What is the TAG Transaction SwitchTM patent pending Desktop?

The TAG Transaction SwitchTM is a packaged software product that implements a secure, reliable method for transporting XML business messages among trading partners across the Internet. It integrates easily into back-office systems like databases, ERP systems and file level interfaces. The Switch dramatically reduces the the number of lost or damaged messages by automatically counting, tracking, acknowledging and testing them for validity before and after it transports them.  This software uses a standard Internet based Business Registry called UDDI to locate the "access points" of business partners. This dramatically reduces the administrative cost of managing local business directories. The Switch implements an open, non-proprietary transport standard called RosettaNet and should interoperate with any other software product that implements the same standard.

Connecting the Supply Chain

The TAG Transaction SwitchTM addresses the lack of economical connectivity among trading partners in a supply chain. It eliminates the need for third party transport services which means you pay no transaction fees. It also means that no industry third party is handling and examining your information.

Technologies

Written in Microsoft C#, the TAG Transaction SwitchTM is built on Microsoft's .NET Framework. It can be configured to transport any XML document containing a valid reference to the recipient. The Switch uses standard Internet technologies including HTTP, SMTP, POP3 and SOAP for UDDI queries.

System Requirements

The Desktop version of the TAG Transaction Switch will run successfully as an application on any Wintel system connected to the Internet and capable of running either Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating systems. The Internet connection can be "occasionally connected" through an E-mail system or "permanently connected" through DSL, Cable Modem or T1 connections.

This figure illustrates how the TAG Transaction SwitchTM carries business messages containing XML documents between a supplier and two distributors. The "access points" where documents are to be sent and received are stored in a central UDDI Business Registry  available through SOAP calls.  The Switch looks inside each XML document for the UDDI reference and automatically retrieves and uses the access point to transmit each business message. Business messages are transmitted by HTTP or SMTP. Messages are received by HTTP or POP3. While the Switch is transmitting and receiving, it validates each document against its declared DTD,  detects transport errors and automatically notifies the Switch Administrator of any serious problems by e-mail.
